EOS 5D mark II manual shutter test with 50Hz lights
7 months ago
As you may know it, the full-auto 30fps 5D had issues with recording 50Hz lighting from PAL land.
After installing the new firmware giving manual control, i checked neons, leds and regular bulbs at home which were causing much flickering and strobing previously...
here's a short comparison of the strobing effect at 1/60 and my goto settings of 1/50, 1/100 & 1/30 for shooting safely in europe.

1/30 works too (= 360° continuous shooting @ 30fps)
oddly enough 1/200 and other fast multiples weren't that stable.
1/50 = closest match for 180° shutter motion blur.

But could you do a slow-motion version please ;-)
I had to watch it six times to take it all in.
You should see the patterns I got with my 5Dmk2 shooting a street scene at night. I'm going to try it again tonight with the shutter speeds you are suggesting.
Was using 1/60 before.
