Imitates: Midges, Mayflies
The Rainbow Warrior is a versatile fly that boasts a very buggy appearance in the water. Though out of the water it resembles a christmas ornament, underwater the flash reflects with the sun through the water to excite the fish and create numerous strikes. The fly can be fished as both a nymph and emerger pattern depending on the usage. I typically fish it as an imitation for emergers because all the flash tends to get fish excited as it moves up the water column. Either way you look at it, the Rainbow Warrior is an excellent midge ermerger pattern that is a great choice to have in your fly box.
