Rafe Sagarin discusses his adaptable approach to leading and teaching classrooms. This work is based on my work exploring what we can learn about being adaptable from nature. 3.5 billion years of evolution has helped millions of organisms deal with unexpected risks in their environment and there is a lot of wisdom there that we can learn from. Here I focus on the decentralized aspect of adaptable systems and apply it to university courses. So far, the students love these courses and they, and I, learn far more than in a traditional professor and syllabus led course.
More ideas on how to use nature's adaptability to your advantages is at adaptablesolutions.org and in my book, "Learning from the Octopus" (2012 Basic Books): learningfromtheoctopus.com
