  • Camille Marotte plus 2 years ago
Well I used few magic bullet looks layers, and few curves and hue/saturation layers but it really depends on the images you have.

But basically : contrast up, saturation down, global tint, skin color correction.
  • Daniel Marini plus 2 years ago
Great work Camille you should try Color for your color correction wide range of possibilities ... you shoot Fame is noise in Milan?

    ciao
    and thx for sharing informations
  • Camille Marotte plus 2 years ago
Yeah I tried Color a bit, and it feels really powerful.
Fame.is.noise wasn't shot in Italy but we kinda try with the vespa and stuff.
It was shot in a little street in Paris.

    Great work!...congratulations!
A question: Did you make up that gradiend or take it from some preset?
by the way, what layers did you apply in magic bullet look?
    Thanks!
  • Camille Marotte plus 2 years ago
    Hi,
For the colors I had 3 differents looks layers and two other layers with curves, hue/saturation and photo filter.

Everything was tweaked, and the opacity of each layer adjusted, so it's different for everything you shoot and everything you want to achieve.

Did you use a ND filter?
  • Camille Marotte plus 2 years ago
No, but it was sometimes close to over-exposition (F1.4, ISO 100 and shutter around 4000).

  • Gaurav Sharma 2 years ago
That was brilliant! Kudos to you...
Were you using any sort of accessories for the 5D2? Like the Gunstock shooters or the Z-Finder or some such thing?
  • Camille Marotte plus 2 years ago
    Hi Gaurav,

I didn't use any accessories, but the little slowmo (30p>25p) maybe reduce the shaking a bit.

    I enjoyed your short vignette...

My theory for the look of the narrow DOF and the isolated look for the characters in this piece.

Young love is often experienced in an almost vacuum; where the world around them is just a blur of no concern.. These two are immersed in this moment, wrapped in a veil of one another. Being atop of the building is in expression of how also young lovers think that their existence and love is all that matters, and is above all. They believe they're the first to ever really have true love... This building of concrete and cement represents a form of cloud nine. Way above everyone else, they live in a hallucinogenic experience, with one another. It's dreamy feel is that, just a dream. It's not reality. However the young lovers don't know this yet. Us the viewer knows that they'll hate each other in a year or so ( maybe even a week ) from now, when the Sh#T hits the fan and the love is now just pure hate and disgust for one another......However for now, their just in a dreamworld all onto themselves, alone, in a narrow field of blur!

How did convert the movie from 30p to 25p?
Did you use After Effects or did you use a special plug in?

I hope you can help me with that.
  • Camille Marotte plus 2 years ago
I used After Effect, slowing down the entire video (inside "Interpret Footage").

Hi! Just want to give my respects to a fantasic movie. I got my camera 2 weeks ago and i have a long way to go.

However, i notice in this movie as with my little clips that i have made, a flickering when moving the camera. In this clip you can see it very clearly at 00.16 when the hand moves over the sofa. The finger is not quite following the rest of the fingers.

Ive heard that quick pans and movements could set this of but the hand in this clips moves so slow... it this something that can be fixed in post or do we have to get used to this? It feels kind of flawed...
  • Camille Marotte plus 2 years ago
    Hi Hakan,

I think that what you're seeing is because of the flash encoding.
Try downloading the mov and tell me if it's the same.
  • Håkan Tiderman 2 years ago
I downloaded the mov and you are absolutley right! It is the flash encoding. But i still will have to do something about my own stuttering movies. Its so subtle but it still catches my eye and it´s anoying. :)

    Thanks for your reply!
  • Camille Marotte plus 2 years ago
It could also be the fact that you put a 30fps movie in a 25fps timeline, so it removes a frame every six frames.

I also heard that it can do that when you're filming with a slow Compact flash card in the camera.

    Some ideas...
  • Håkan Tiderman 2 years ago
Those are good ideas. However not the case for me. I think i may have found a way to get rid of the flickering.
I am actually experimenting right now with what shutterspeed I am supposed to have when shooting. I read a lot on cinema5d.com and concluded that 1/50 is the way to go when converting to 24p. Will try and see... thanks again.
  • Maverick 2 years ago
Hi, i think i know what you re talking about. Because of the way the CMOS take the light, the image will be like jelly. That happens when you pan or tilt faster tahn the time the cmos refresh. I hope this answer your questions. My respects to Camille and his wonderfull and inspiring job

The imagery captured on the 5DMarkII looks good here. Amazing colors and feel to the whole film. Nice stuff. is neoheaven.net a team or an individual effort?
  • Camille Marotte plus 2 years ago
Hi Danial, thanks for the comment.
neoheaven.net is my own website, thanks for visiting ;)
  •
  • Danial Haris 2 years ago
Just another question. For color correction & layering in AE do you do it on each individual clip or the color tweaking setting is set across on the final edited film?
  • Camille Marotte plus 2 years ago
Everything was shot in the same place, across a short period of time, so colors are not changing a lot from one shot to another.
So grading is done for the whole video in the first place, with little adjustments for each clips in the end.

    Hope it helps ;)
  • Danial Haris 2 years ago
    Definitely helps a lot. Thanks.
