Day 1 "was a good day;" pun intended since Ice Cube ROCKED the 36 Chambers stage, but I was eager for day 2 knowing I was still going to get to see Zion-I + Grouch + Eligh, Murs, The Hit Squad, Atmosphere and Deltron 3030.

I got to see Dom Kennedy open the main stage and then the triple tag-team of Zion-I + The Grouch + Eligh open the Paid Dues stage. As only one of three acts from the bay area, they really made the hometown crowd feel special and proud! Check out my other video of Z+G+E at RTB on my Vimeo page for more footage of their set. One of the big highlights of the weekend was The Hit Squad (minus Erick Serman) reunion. West Coast had a lot of love for the East Coast super crew. We even got a little bonus Method Man and Slick Rick!

I saw Common last year, so my group of friends chose to check out DJ Quick. He was good and I got some great shots of his set. Back to the main stage I got to see the beginning of Atmosphere's set. I would have liked to see more of them, but they ran into Deltron 3030's set and as a huge Del and HIERO fan I knew how special and rare the Deltron set would be. I'm glad I did! Dan the Automator brought a mini orchestra with horn, strings and rhythm sections and Kid Koala really added that special something extra on the turn tables. iphone battery was low, so I didn't get much footage of the set, nor Bone Thugs.

Bone had one of the more memorable performances of the weekend. I have seen them in the past and so have other friends. Reviews and experiences were mixed and I wasn't expecting much from them at RTB. I was wrong. I don't know if it was the setting or that all 5 members were there, but Bone Thugs-N-Harmony made me fall in love with their music all over again.

I got some more iphone juice to capture some of Nas' set. Nas is great and he is usually great live. Tonight was no exception. I like his new album and enjoyed hearing some of those songs performed live. Part of me couldn't help feeling like Nas at RTB is becoming a bit overplayed. This was the 4 year in a row I'd seen Nas in a headline or co-headline spot.

I look forward to returning in 2013. I shot all the video on my iphone 4s with the photojojo lens kit and edited it in FCP.
