The novel "Amedeo" is loosely based on the lives of Mark Nassutti's grandfather and his brother in the northern Italian city of Trieste. It’s both family saga and thriller. Family saga because it traces a relationship between two brothers that spans 60 years, including both world wars, the rise and fall of Mussolini and a two year occupation by Nazi Germany (with the consequent conscriptions into forced labor, deportations of Jews, reprisal killings, and the shadow of the only Nazi mass execution facility in Italy). Thriller because, in the context of the last few days of World War II, the climax works its way through an explosive political and military environment that can kill just about anyone – including a pair of estranged brothers in their 50s suddenly confronted with having to depend on each other to deal with split-second life-or-death decisions. This produced video serves as a trailer for the novel, its script adapted from an excerpt from the forthcoming book.
