Season 1 - Episode 1 : The Spirited Chef prepares decadent comfort food sure to soothe the soul. We start with a delicious asparagus soup with a unique twist. Roasted white asparagus is used in place of green asparagus, combined with hearty root vegetables, rich stalk and heavy cream. But it doesn't end there! The soup is then topped with seared sea scallops, mouthwatering truffle oil, and delicate micro greens. For the main dish The Spirited Chef gets spirited using an entire bottle of Angus the Bull Cabernet Sauvignon to flavour his braised short ribs. Add a side of Roquefort Mash with creme fraiche, and a surprisingly simple parsnip crisp for a sweet crunch, and you have a plateful of gourmet comfort! While the ribs may seem fulfilling enough, Christopher has not forgotten dessert and shows you how to create a classic champagne sauvignon featuring macerated berries, grand marnier, topped with crisp meringue.
