THIS WEEK, WE'LL TALK ABOUT . . .
. . . using Jesus as a model that helps us deal with the times that people disappoint us.
The Gospel of John is talking about people like you and me, people who believed in Jesus. These are his early followers, not his adversaries. These are the folks who were on his side. They were the ones who "believed in his name." This makes the statement jarring. About these believers, we read,
"But Jesus on his part would not entrust himself to them, because he knew all people."
Jesus didn't trust himself to them. He knew all people. Doesn't that sound a little harsh on Jesus' part?
