A miracle of evolution and a location Charles Darwin never visited. Jellyfish Lake is a salt water lake cut off from the ocean for some 12,000 years and situated in the middle of one of the many rock islands of Palau.
As the sea levels rose after the last ice age the jellyfish were trapped inside this lake and over thousands of years have evolved into a completely unique species. With no natural predators in the lake to threaten them they have evolved to be completely stingless Jellyfish.
This footage is featured in my stock footage archive which has hours of unique underwater shots available to purchase for a wide range of licensing types.
