Besides extracting honey, some of the greatest fun a beekeeper can have is inspecting an active hive. That's what my friend John and I did on a beautiful day in June with the world full of pollen and nectar, the sun shining brightly and the bees going in an out of the hive. They were making honey like crazy but didn't seem to mind our brief invasion of their world.
