How does a shy M.D. win the heart of a gorgeous pharmacuetical rep? Find out in this fun comedy starring Anuja & Nirav, a Bollywood-inspired short we produced for their 6.6.09 wedding. The couples' surprise big screen debut premiered on two massive screens just before their grand entrance to hundreds of unsuspecting family and friends. From an original script based on their true story... With only a few 'minor' embellishments.

  • pretty simple story but pretty good production there!

Is it for screening at the casts' wedding? If it is, it'll be hell of a wedding! Awesome stuff!
  • Pacific Pictures plus 2 years ago
Hi IP, yes, this was screened at their reception. The reaction was pretty insane.

Kevin, once again we're thrilled to have been a part of this..at least on the equipment side of things. The Cinevate team viewed this today and all were thoroughly impressed. Folks will no doubt have many comments on the piece but let me point out the fine job you did with the audio. On our home theater sound system it really rocked :-)

    Cheers,
    Dennis Wood

Thanks, Dennis. I wanted to share an extra step your team took after an unexpected delay in your shipment of lenses from Zeiss meant one of ours wouldn't make it in time for the shoot. We couldn't find them anywhere else & we had a real panic moment... Until Hubert informed me he contacted Zeiss himself, and arranged for another lens to be dropped-shipped to us overnight direct from Zeiss NY. I couldn't believe it. The lens arrived right on time and was our lens of choice for much of the shoot. I can't thank you and your team enough for going the extra mile; service like that deserves recognition.

That was awesome! The ease and comfort level of the bride and groom in the film is a real testament to your directing skills!
  • Pacific Pictures plus 2 years ago
Thanks Kara. That's probably one of the most challenging aspects of a production like this. Performance can make or break a piece; luckily Bollywood allows for some tongue-in-cheek.
  •
  • WoW! I got shivers watching this! I loved the intro with the butterfly tho I wish the butterfly got squished by a car :P Bloody well done Kevin, doesn't get better than this, you are setting a new standard.
  • Pacific Pictures plus 2 years ago
Thanks Nicholas. That's a great compliment... We'll kill the butterfly in the sequel.
  •
  • That was awesome. I don't even know the people, but I enjoyed their story.
  • Pacific Pictures plus 2 years ago
That's a big compliment and one of the issues I have with personal documentaries. If we can entertain the masses and remain authentic to personal stories, surely we've created something above & beyond either genre.

    OK.
This is now the "Gold Standard" in Wedding filmmaking!
I have never seen a Wedding film this pro.
Kevin, when we were at riding bikes along Lake Michigan a month back you told me your frustration about how all of the comments on Vimeo are always so positive, so I'd love to slam you project here but this is my real assesment:
    Sound perfect.
    Music perfect.
    Acting perfect.
    Cinematography perfect.
    Butterfly thing, beyond perfect.
Concept, story, lighting, camera movement=feature quality.
    This movie is F%$king amazing.
I'm now going to link it to everyone I know.
    Keep up the amazing work.
    Steve

Steve! You're too much. I'm glad you enjoyed the film and thanks for all your support. Looking forward to the next bike ride.

Well, I guess it's a good time to mention my Trek Liquid sitting in the garage out back, although I suspect a coronary event might follow shortly after a good ride...

Seriously, thanks for your kind words Kevin. We do try pretty hard to keep everyone happy out there :-)

    Cheers,

This is so entertaining and so natural. All the work involved merged seamlessly with the acting.
This must be perhaps one of those art works that since conception the stars were aligned to bless it with this type of result and thanks to all the right people.
    CONGRATULATIONS!!
  • Pacific Pictures plus 2 years ago
That's true, Juan. With such limited resources, most of our time is spent trying to get those stars to align. It might not happen right away, but when it does, it's really great. The biggest producing skill one can have is the ability to cross both fingers and toes simultaneously.

I too am amazed at the production quality of this short. It was all very well done. I would imagine the screening at the reception was amazing. Can't wait to see more.

Very impressive! I love Bollywood style, so it was obviously a winner in my book :) The production quality was incredible! And all for a wedding! Too cool!
  • Pacific Pictures plus 2 years ago
You can't beat Bollywood. Anything after circa 2001/2002 beats Hollywood in my book.

The old patient dude is freakin hilarious "Sac up Doc!" ROFL.

Very, VERY well done. Love the singing scene where he keeps barely missing her, then at the end he's like "Nah I could never do that".

Those tracking shots in there are so dang smooth. What kind of jib/dolly did you use? More fluid than many big budget films.

I have to agree with Steve Weiss, this video is freaking brilliant.
