Cancer is a disease that has become more and more difficult to understand as scientists realize how much there actually is to find out. My thesis focused on developing and applying computational methods for analyzing the role proteins play in various biological systems.
In this choreography, we illustrate how combining proteomics (or the measurement of all the proteins from a system, like a cell or organism), with bioinformatics can help in identifying changes in proteins, that could be important in understanding what goes wrong in cancer. Additionally, bioinformatics can be used to combine novel findings from data, with information from biological databases, like for identifying possible novel drug targets.
