Part 1 of the Martial Arts Dance will center around Okinawan Kobudo. This style is comprised of five principle weapons and several secondary weapons. The five principle weapons are each associated with a different element, and have very different movement qualities and personalities. I am working with my old college roommate (an actress and playwright) to create several dialogue exchanges personifying these weapons. She requested some clips of the weapons in action, to give her a better idea of their personalities. So here is Josh Stafford presenting a handful of kata for each weapons, as well as some improvisation in spots.
