A large raptor attacks my remote controlled eagle. I barely get away by making quick dives until some crows come to my rescue!

Thats some fancy flying. But in all seriousness you should have just used your missiles and wasted the sucker.

    Next time.

Hmm... is it me or did vimeo decide to just hire the first four people who commented on this video?
  • Daniel Hayek staff 2 years ago
Ha ha, nope. When we find awesome videos we share them with one another hence the pattern.

If I was a bird, I would take exception to a petrolium fuelled birdy smelling and noising in my hunting ground.
But what a lucky video capture. Today, everytime I put the camera away the wildlife went nuts so I get it out, they become boring again! Doh! Don't they know I'm a busy human!King!
  • Jeremy Blencowe 2 years ago
It's electric actually. Not smelly, clean. And relatively quiet. :)

This is taken with the VadoHD, thanks for all the compliments. I have a video of the RC eagle from the ground as well called 56" eagle flight.

Looks like an angry mommy eagle..:-)
  •
  • Billwhit 2 years ago
@ Adam: It's my understanding that bald eagles don't get their yellow beaks and white feathers until they are 4 years old, so I'm pretty sure this is a juvenile bald eagle!

Did I miss something here? So crows are the natural enemies of raptors? :D
  • Lucas Groves 2 years ago
yes, i find that fascinating too. but incredibly, we have to sift through a series of brainless exchanges about whether certain posts were intended as jokes. ughh.

That's awesome. Though, for the sake of science, if this happens again, you should let the eagle take yours out so we can get good video evidence. :)

    Nice job all around.

Cool how you froze that bug midair in the last frame.
That would be a scary bird to have attacking your plane......could rip it to shreds!

Go, little buddy, GO! If you freeze frame at :22 and :33, you can see the head clearly. Fantastic quality for such a little cam. Did you have to do any motion stabilization to the video?
  • Billwhit 2 years ago
Nope, it's a great little camera. Just need to make sure my propeller is balanced.

    Super cool video.

Bald Eagles regularly take gulls, so it might have thought your plane was lunch!

Would have been a bit crunchy though.

    pretty awesome.

Although it would have been catastrophic for it to happen, the video would have been pretty epic had the eagle attacked and you had the video of the grand tailspin to the ground.

  •
  • psymike 2 years ago
Nice!! The question remains why the other bird protected the plane...
  • Bob Willis pro 2 years ago
I imagine the crow was protecting it's territory and nesting site from a predator rather than caring about the model plane.
  • Billwhit 2 years ago
I've actually seen crows attacking Bald Eagles a number of times this summer (always in groups). I find it interesting that they don't care about my model eagle, but the real eagle came after me.

wow, that's hardcore! Is the eagle just hanging around the area, or did you entice him out with a bit of rabbit hanging off the back of your plane?
  • Billwhit 2 years ago
I think he has a nest in the area, they protect their hunting grounds.
