The light is perfect at the ceremony...wow! An amazing SDE! Is this 100% 5DMKII? How do manage to convert all the footage to 24p so quickly? I notice on one of your previous posts that you might be posting a tutorial on that work flow, are you still working on it? I just shot my first 5DMKII wedding over the weekend. I had two HVX200s there as well and thought I would just grab a couple shots on the 5D, but it's way to addictive to put down!!!

hi there,

this one is actually done in 30P because we wanted a lot of real time footage. converting to 24P is fast if your okay slowing it down to 80%. if you want to keep it at 100% and want it super clean it is way too long for an sde. the fact that it looks like 24P or you thought it might be speaks volumes about the 'film look' being so intricately tied to light, color, composition and other things aside from just frame rate.

WOW - I definitely feel it's hard to tell that this is 30p. The light, color, & composition are perfect and they really overcome the real time look. I was completely perplexed on some of your earlier 24p SDE's and how you over came such short timed conversions. But yes throwing them into cinema tools for a quick conform is a nice look, even if it's a little slow.

i really love how we all came together to really make this sequence so powerful. when you dissect it, you can see how each shot adds so much to that moment and how it would fall apart with as little as one missing.

before having my wedding i loved the weddings. Looking at what Carol and Bryan experienced and how you captured it makes me jealous. I had a awful wedding starting from the weather that just changed going to the strangely unhappy parents ending with a total disaster at the restaurant and unhappy guests.
Congratulations to the happy married couple and to you for what you did.
Now my goal in life is to make people happy on their wedding day and capturing their happy feelings.

we are shooting on the MKII, generally 2-4 of them, bringing the footage in, rough cutting it, then exporting to compressor in 30P (24P if we use less MKII footage) and then bring it back into FCP and start going. the key is to rough cut it first instead of batch processing all your footage - the majority of which you won't use.

actually four at the ceremony, two MKII with 70-200s on them, one static regular hd video camera as the main angle, and one MKII used for the steadicam and slider shots.

these dudes have moves smoother than michael jackson back in his prime.

we try to have an idea or concept that fits with the venues, itinerary, and couple - but that is always open to spontaneity. this piece had a different opening and it wasn't until they started the vows that it kinda clicked and i said 'that's it'.

Just amazing!!! I'm starting a video production business in Tampico Tamaulipas Mexico and I'm looking forward some new cameras. Do you, as an expert, recommend me to buy the Canon 5D MK II? I do most ONLINE VIDEO PROGRAMS and TV COMMERCIALS. Or should I buy one of those big pro cameras? Wich are the differences?
