  • care to explain what did you do to achieve this 8mm effect? I like it
  • Eric Tsutomu 6 months ago
It's kind of an elaborate step by step process but if you care to listen, then I'd be glad to explain. I first applied a subtle 'prism blur' filter on the video to decrease the sharpness of the picture, followed by adjusting the RGB balance to punch up the reds, blues and greens. I then modified the frame rate to around 18fps. Finally, I found a grungy-looking vignette online and applied it to the video a long with some film scratches. Hope that helped!

You definitely nailed the 8mm look. Great stuff. Especially liked the J-Town Props!

Thanks man, that means a lot because I was slightly hesitant regarding the actual look of the video, but I'm glad that you considered it accurate.

Are you using the Raynox DCR-6600 in every scene?

What percentage of shots are you using it?
  • Eric Tsutomu 6 months ago
I would say about half of the shots they are being used in. The only downside to the Raynox though is when you fully zoom into the picture, the quality begins to diminish.

I think I may buy a Raynox for my hv40. Do you need an adapter ring of some kind?
  • Eric Tsutomu 6 months ago
Yes, a step-up ring is required, but it came with mine for free with the Raynox when i ordered it off of Amazon.com online.

  • Eric Tsutomu 6 months ago
I used the 'strobe effect' in Final Cut Pro.

You did a wonderful job on this, Eric! Where do you get all your effects for this?
  • Eric Tsutomu 2 months ago
Thanks Justin, it was a collaboration of a bunch of things...I can't really recall it in specifics (it was a while back ago sorry.) What I can remember though is that it was a pain to render! Scroll above and I think I explain to somebody what I did to achieve the "look" of it.
