Insights was an interaction design group project with a guerilla approach and one question: How can one discover the hidden gems of a city outside of its most touristic areas?
The local population always knows best. That is why our team decided to draw from this resource to design an interactive tour experience; the core of which was our cardboard tour bus that successfully fulfilled its purpose as an essential communication tool.
With the bus, the „tourists“ we took with us on our tour always had a fun conversation starter making it easy to approach locals, while the latter ones on the other hand received a clear sign of what was going on before even a word was said and thus, opened up easier.
The awkwardness was taken away making interaction between strangers easy and fun.
Highlight of the tour was when we could give artist Lennie Lee a ride home to his gallery the Rich and Famous, where he offered a space for our bus to remain there next to first works of Damien Hirst and other masters.
