REVERTING SPECTACLES: PERFORMING SPACE (2012, 22m 33s) - a video essay
This work assembles episodes of art works that highlight a temporal dimension - performance that is engaging specific space-time, whereby an artist (or artists) inserted her/his body (their bodies) into managed institutional spaces for diversion (detournament) purposes. These works are, in my view, in contrast with art practices that reinforce the mystification of a work of art as an aesthetic object.
Events collected in this work covers the years 2000-2011, from various art events in China, Germany, Spain and Hong Kong, but mainly in Hong Kong. (Linda Lai)
