Andy, a tree climber here in Portland and a good friend of mine, had been begging me for weeks to come out and see this abandoned squirrel he's been raising. As the squirrel has grown, so has the unlikely friendship between these two.

    My buddy is like the animal's mom and dad. When it opened it's eyes, my buddy was the first thing he saw. Crazy!

    Thanks, Patrick! Unfortunately Mearl moved on after the summer. After the babies grown up, instincts kick in and they're off to doing squirrel things again. Hopefully Andy trained him well enough to care for himself in the confines of Portland. Again, thanks for the kind words.
