Zola is a 18 min. independent Kurdish film made in a guerilla way and entirely filmed on a HD Flipcam.
By Soultrotter prod. in conjunction with a lot of support from family and friends. All the actors are local citizens. And everything is filmed in Kurdistan. A country that just came out of war and still is struggling for existence.

It had its world premier at the International Duhok Film Festival in Kurdistan, Followed by a nomination for best short film at the International Kurdish Youth Festival in San Diego. And screened at the NY Film archive institute.

Synopsis : an introvert 9 year old Kurdish girl from Hawler, named Pershang is trying to find peace.
After being cast out by her family, school mates and society she walks away. When that doesn't work, she finds another way out to restore the family honor....She thinks...

Tagline : You can walk away as far as you want, but you can't walk away from yourself.
