We have been waiting for some nice weather to test the jib arm outside. We didn't have much time at the end of the day, but this is what we got. Since it was only me running camera everything had to be on auto functions with the stock lens, resulting is some poor shots but never the less the Jib arm works great! With some more practice we will perfect it. We had plans to put the jib arm on the track we built, but it was just too risky having only 2 people to operate a 5,000$ camera swinging 13 feet above ground. thanks for watching, and as always your comments are welcome!

Really vibeing your jib Tom. I am also a HPX170 user and i've been meaning to make a jib for some time now but haven't gotten around to it. If you would be so kind would you give me some advice as to going about constructing one of these bad boys. I know there is a shitload of DIY jib sites on the net but most of them seem tacky.

    Keep up the good work

well we engineered our own design, but my advice to you is look at multiple designs online, then construct your own plans after you understand how the jib operates. Also, use good material, our jib weighs as least 50 -70 pounds and its made from heavy duty box aluminum.

Sweet! I really want to build one, what sites did you use to develop your design?
  • Tom Valko plus 6 months ago
    Thanks Luke,
It was a custom design made by a friend and his dad.

Very nice Tom. I'm especially digging the colors. Could you shed some light on the steps you took in post for the color correction?
