Really enjoyed this, Astral. So many good stories.

Reminds me of all the stories my family would tell me about this certain haunted room at my Grandparents' place.

I love the music, any chance of getting it from somewhere?

The video is pretty nice too. Even I think it's very well done, despite the fact that I don't care much for the paranormal...

Thanks! The music is by a band/artist called DURDEN. The song is called "You can miss what you never had." I got it from CCmixter.org. It has a creative commons attribution license. The full song has more instruments and tracks, but I chose only certain ones for the movie.

question: how did u transfer this to digital? (or HD for that matter)

btw awesome video. loved the s8

i used a projector shooting into a mirror box (it's a box that recieves the image through a small screen you project onto, and then a mirror inside reflects the image out through a small window which you can focus a camera on) and an HVX 200 to do the capturing. it takes some fiddling with color temperature and exposure to get it to look right but it's the best way to transfer in my experience.

    thanks for the comment!

thanks a lot ! did you use one of this ¨telecine¨ mirror boxes that one can buy of ebay or built your own?? so how did you deal with the framerate issue??
    thanks again! :)
  • Astral Sled 5 months ago
    i used one of these:
    oaktreevintage.com/web_photos/8mm_Film/Studio_Goldline_V_CP-720_Film_to_Video_Transfer_box_web.jpg

surprisingly the framerate issue was more or less nonexistant. i really didn't get any flicker just filming at the standard setting.

wow realy realy nice and wonderfull!!!
did you do any collor correction or is it that 8mm camera? if you did collor correction, you did it very well!
    respect
  • Astral Sled 5 months ago
    thanks!
i did not do any color correction in post. i did adjust the color temperature and exposure on the camera that i transferred with, but that was just to get it to match the original film as closely as possible. these colors are all from the film itself-- it came out very nice!

Very effective as a way to tell a story of the supernatural. I quietly enjoyed it. Which camera did you used? Congrats for this short, very good.

It's great to see old school super 8 online. Great use of both image and sound as separate entities but working in a complimentary fashion.
