This video was captured while slipping along the cloud tops at over 200 knots. Our altitude was 8,500' and the late afternoon light was wonderful. My subjects for this assignment were a meticulously restored and maintained T-38 Talon, "Spirit 1" dressed in Thunderbird colors, and a gorgeous, polished, WWII North American P51 Mustang.
The images yo see were captured from my favorite photo platform, a WWII North American B25 "Billy Mitchell" bomber. The aircraft used by the heroic Doolittle Raiders in their raid on Tokyo, turning the tide in World War II. The B25 I use has the tail gun and the tail cone itself removed, providing a spectacular perspective on the subjects, and the sky in general.
The combined experience of flying in such a historic aircraft, and the opportunity to view and capture such rare subjects in their environment, is an indescribable priviledge.
