3D SIMULATOR FOR EAR SURGERY

3D EarSim allows the surgeon to practice thoroughly before an operation.

The dense concentration of nerves in particular around the temples makes it difficult to operate in the ear. That is the reason why researchers have developed the simulation tool 3D EarSim for surgeons.

When using 3D EarSim the surgeon operates a lifelike drill during a virtual surgery. A 3D image on a screen shows a relevant section of the temple-bone and the effect of the surgeon’s movements.

3D EarSim was made available for surgeons in 2008.

3D SIMULATOR TIL ØREKIRURGI

3D EarSim tillader kirurgen at øve sig grundigt før en operation.

Tindingebenets tætte koncentration af bl.a. nerver gør det vanskeligt at operere i mellemøret og det indre øre. Derfor har forskere udviklet simuleringsværktøjet 3D EarSim til kirurgen.

I 3D EarSim-systemet betjener kirurgen et naturtro bor under en virtuel operation. Billederne viser et kirurgisk relevant udsnit af tindingebenet.

3D EarSim blev i 2008 gjort tilgængeligt for ørekirurger verden over.
