    Thanks John. I've been monitoring this site for the past 6-7 years and this year was a record for the number of glowing females - well over 70.

    Great stuff John. I've only recently discovered these creatures. Not the ideal subjects for video in my limited experience since the female will remain perfectly still for some time! Will they actively avoid bright lights and does this explain her movement here? I have tried using an LED torch but after a short while they tend to back away.

    Hi Dom. Thanks for your comment. You're right they aren't the easiest subject to video. If the light is too bright then it masks the glow worm's own light. This was filmed with a small LED light which gave just the right amount of light. It's difficult to know whether she's backing off because of the light or because of the mating. Apparently towards the end of mating the female will often go back down into the vegetation any way. Good luck with any further efforts to video them.
