This is a memorial tribute film to my father-in-law, Lyn Evans who recently passed away.
An incredible; Husband, Father, Dadcu, Friend and Colleague who will be sorely missed.
Here is his obituary, published in the Neath Retired Police Officers Newsletter.
With regret the following obituary is announced.
Retired Police Sergeant 253 Lyn Evans.
It is with the most profound regret the passing of our friend and fellow member, retired Police Sergeant 253 Lyn Evans is reported. Lyn passed away peacefully at Morriston Hospital on the evening of Friday 28th September following prolonged illness.
As is well known, Lyn suffered ill health for many years – illness he bore with the greatest fortitude and cheerfulness. He exemplified courage and forbearance and was never known to complain during his suffering. His demeanour at all times was a shining example and we shall all be the poorer now he is no longer with us - Lyn was truly inspirational!
Many of us had the pleasure of working alongside him at the Western Traffic Sector, Glynleiros Gardens, Neath Abbey, where he served as a motor patrol officer and also when a beat officer at Neath Port Talbot. He was also a member of the Sub-Aqua Unit Search Team in its formative days where he discharged his duties with distinction. Many stories of shared experiences and exploits come to mind and these will undoubtedly be remembered with pride and nostalgic pleasure by the officers who served with him.
Following retirement, Lyn became a loyal member of our association and served for many years as Secretary, a duty he carried out meticulously and with unqualified efficiency. He reluctantly stood down from office due to health issues and his legacy left his successor no easy task to maintain the high standard he had set.
The funeral is to take place 11am on Wednesday 10th October at Margam Crematorium and due to the high regard in which he was held a very large number of mourners is anticipated to attend. The cortege is to be escorted by Traffic Police motor cyclists and the bearer party will consist of members from the association.
We are mindful of his devoted wife Lynwen and family at this time of sad bereavement and share in their sad loss. They will remain in our thoughts in the time ahead.
