After a family funeral, Molly Walling learned an awful, unimaginable story about her father. In the 1940s, her father, a prominent Deltan, editor of a newspaper, and scion of a cotton plantation family settled a score with violence and shot and killed a black man, a fellow veteran of World War II. Discovering this horror started Walling on the investigative quest to find as much of the truth as she could after decades of concerted concealment by locals and relations. Walling sat down in University Press of Mississippi's Jackson offices to talk about her new book. Learn more about it at upress.state.ms.us/books/1539
