TQ5s and TX81Zs are pretty cheap when they show up on eBay.

ah yes ....you lucky man! wow, that was fast!!!! you got it FAAAAAAAST! (i'm terrible with schematics, etc as well. the best I can claim, is the occasional detached jack repair, etc... btw I heard some great 4 Op in there bro! I bet with some real usage, that old kbd for a control panel, would become second nature, in programming. thing is, what about programming, whilst running sequences into the TQ5's sometimes you've just got to have a sequence running into an FM synth, in order to get the coolest patches worked out. thanks for the vid, but now I NEED it even more!!!!! lol! sure looks like a lot more fun than the TX81Z software I am using right now... especially, once you get those keys on the keyboard, labeled with their info... vinyl stickers would be ideal, and easy to replace when worn...

btw, have you messed with the internal seq. yet? I tried to record a sequence I wrote in AL7 and sent to the TQ5 while in record on the TQ5, but I still have not figured out how it works exactly (I can't get my recorded sequence to play back!!!!)
  • dalas verdugo staff 5 months ago
I still need to replace the internal battery before the seq will work properly. Alan said that even he doesn't really understand how it works :)

hmmm... Dude, I'm not really sure why you've built this little monster, coz it's probably can be iterated on FL studio as well! huh?

Also, I really don't like idea to playing on PC keyboard, it can be ridiculously uncomfortable!

For live situations where I don't want to have a computer involved.

    first point:

MAJOR reason for putting together the little monster- IT'S HARDWARE ...which in my book already makes it 10 fold cooler than sytrus.

    second point:

the computer keyboard is for PROGRAMMING and EDITING patches. usually a sound designer needs a control panel in order to synthesize A REAL PIECE OF HARDWARE, especially such a beast as a Yamaha 4 Op FM synth.

FM from the folks who made FM famous. not from people who took pre-existing technology, and translated it into a piece of software

    now my own points:

has fruity loops ever crashed, while you were working? the TQ5 won't crash, like software... how much CPU does it take to run just one instance of sytrus? it takes 0% DAW CPU to run a TQ5 ;-)

Dalas: I bet we can also program FB-01's with the TwoPot as well. I have to ask Alan.... have you checked into those? ....SUPER CHEAP!!!!! could literally have a 'stack' of em running at once....
  • EpicMovies 5 months ago
thanks for explanation, Jay. I'm not working with FL studio so often, more likely I'm an AEfag. Also I have very fast CPU's, so there is no problems for me at all. I think, Dalas said it all previously...but what is these "live situations", I really have no idea!

Alan is building me one as well man! (he may leave out the efx programming portion of the code, to possibly fit in fixed ratio, on my TwoPot... :-)
