We always try to incorporate an interview WITHIN a scene so it's a seamless sequence. Trying to mix together an interview done at another time in a another place with a scene shot entirely somewhere else can be jarring and remind the audiences of the filmmakers process, which is usually not the goal. Here is an example where we went to follow Crystal through an abandoned building (as her her habit) and then, happening upon a beautiful, window- less apartment, we decided to sit her down for an interview. The material all has the same dreamy look and feel and works very well as an introduction to this character.
