It was the perfect day; the weather was sunny and bright and I felt like a million bucks. I say that because when I'm healthy and fit, my child is being obedient, my home is immaculate, my bills are paid and my man and I are on the same page, it was a glorious day. I went to my favorite place in my town, down by the pier to sit by the water and watch the birds, ducks, and boats cruise in the bay. That particular day I wore a pretty summer dress, a mint green color, and some sling back sandals and sunglasses. I nestled down on the bench with my iPod, listening to the soothing sounds of Corinne Bailey Rae. I had a few magazines and my favorite beverage, a zesty raspberry ice tea. I was in heaven!
My favorite magazines are Metropolitan, Essence, Shape, Ebony and Martha Stewart Living. It was an article addressed to the editors that caught my attention so I read it. At first, when I read the article, I was angry. Then from angry to baffled, from baffled, to "lets-set-the-record-straight", and here's my version of my American story. So I let my fingers do the telling of my story that began centuries ago.
