Life after Menik Farm
The Government opened the 700-hectare Menik Farm in Northern Sri Lanka’s Vavuniya district as an IDP site in 2009, and at its peak, later that year, it held 225,000 people. Over the past few weeks despite restrictions imposed-journalists and civil society activists have been reporting on the living conditions of the most recent batch of displaced persons from Menik Farm.

On this report we will be looking at those from the Maritimepattu and Puthukkudiyiruppu DS divisions in the Mullaitivu district who have made a return. Some of them have been resettled while others have been relocated as their homes are occupied.

Dr. Farzana Haniffa on Displaced North Muslims Issues
