9. The Wine Riot - Taste. Learn. Love.
The Second Glass is a print and online magazine with a mission of making wine accessible, fun, and especially, unpretentious. Needless to say, we love it!

The founders of the Second Glass, along with The Weekly Dig (a local publication that covers news, arts, music, food and drink), decided to form an event that would take right to the public the types of delicious and affordable wine that they cover in their magazine...so born was The Wine Riot...and French Oak was there to cover it!

The event was held at the Cyclorama in the South End section of Boston on April 17 and 18 in what was advertised as a "snob free environment" and it lived up to the billing with 250 wines from around the world, deep and soulful house music from a live DJ, panels on champagne and organic/biodynamic wine, and even tattoos (well, temporary ones anyway...!)

Some of the local varieties that we sampled (and loved) were the Turtle Creek Zinfandel from Lincoln, MA, Palmer Vineyards Merlot from Long Island, NY and Westport Rivers Brut “RJR” from Westport, MA. Keep an eye out for these bottles in your local wine stores in the Boston area.

A thousand thanks to the organizers, Tyler Balliet and Morgan First, who were so wonderful to have us attend and film the entire Friday night session. We hope you enjoy this segment - one of our favorites!
