Now, as much as I would've loved a fully rendered animation, that, sadly, cannot happen. Maya is being stupid and having the cloth slip off the object, even though in Playblast it stays on perfectly as I want it to.
Now, this assignment is about doing something I've never done before; Make an abstract animation to the music, using an element I've never used before.
So I decided to use nCloth. One of the things I learned about it is that, even if you delete faces on the nCloth shape, the faces are actually still there, and other objects with interact with it as such.
Using that in mind, I cut a hole into the original object, turned it into an nCloth, then deleted the faces that were becoming...less than optimal.
I think it turned out well, save for the rendering problems.
