This was shot in 16x9 SD Digital Video with the Panasonic GS-500. I used a Cokin circular polarizer on all the footage to deepen the blue skies and reduce glare. I also used a variety of ND filters from ND2 to ND6 to keep the iris wide open and shot on telephoto as much as possible to keep the depth of field as shallow as is possible with a small camcorder. I also shot all the people with 250 Shutter to help the slow-mo in post. Obviously I had to use a tripod which in this case was the Manfrotto 525 with the 501 pan head.

The goal was to get the best footage with limited resources and give the audience the feel for the city. It was shot over 2 glorious days in roughly a dozen locations.

The piece was cut on iMovie on a MacBook Pro. Except for the slow-mo and saturation boost on a couple of shots, the vast majority of the video is all straight from the camera.

The song is 'These Are Days' by 10,000 Maniacs.

Enjoy!

Shooting a video like this forces you to stop and look. Something that makes life much more meaningful and rich. It is also amazing how it slows the day down.
