Water From the Hills: Adapting to Land Use and Climate Change
Michael H. Simpson, Chair, Environmental Studies Dept., Antioch University of New England
Prof. Simpson’s primary research focuses upon impact to riparian corridors and estuaries, from changes in land-use combined with increases in storm intensity and frequency due to projected climate change. He also has conducted numerous economic cost/avoided cost analyses related to decisions regarding resource utilization and conservation.
Prof. Simpson is currently working under two NOAA funded grants that identifies potential risk from projected climate and land-use change and necessarily includes development of effective strategies to both communicate science and risk to stakeholders and to facilitate local adaptation decisions.
Filmed on October 1, 2012. Lecture series sponsored by UVM's Clean Energy Fund.
