Just a raytracing test from an OBJ file using the awesome RayTrace library( math.ucsd.edu/~sbuss/MathCG/RayTrace/ ).

I sort of messed up the model so that is why the edges of the O are a little funny.

The material is a glass like material.

The code compiled very nicely into OF - I need to explore to see what is possible, obviously it won't look as awesome as sunflow. But I think it has bump map support.

    Realtime?
I've been experimenting with realtime ray-casting (not true ray-tracing, but still cool) of mathematical surface functions. Have a look at my videos if you're interested.

    Nice work,

oh actually it is not realtime - its all done on the cpu and then loaded and displayed as a texture. it could definitely benefit by using the graphics card. The ray casting stuff looks very interesting - I was checking out the page you linked to [ daimi.au.dk/~trier/?page_id=98 ]. I might give it a shot.

Cool. You should give it a go. Lots of fun to be had there. I'm also intending to have a go at optimising Peter's setup a little. I should be able to get better performance from 'sparser' volumes by a simple adaptive sampling-type approach.

I'll let you know how I get on.
