To Die For
A new play by Claudia Schwartz and Sharon On
Which way would you stage your final farewell, if you could have a say?
The fiercely unconventional Ariana Krankovic invites YOU to her meticulously planned birthday party- if you dare! She is not exactly a social butterfly, but today she will perform the lethal ‘Encanta’s Aria’- a piece of music so beautiful that singing it stops the singer’s heart.
Ariana Krankovic not only has to lay the ghosts from the Krankovic family tree to rest, but on her special mission ¬she also encounters Berlin and its people. In a grotesque and funny way her desire for control will be confronted with things beyond our influence.
TO DIE FOR shows the power of the stories we tell, the stories that shape our lives and deaths.
This completely new, Berlin version of the play „Ways of Making You Talk.“ – first shown at the Dubliner Fringe Festival 2007 and nominated for the Fishamble New Writing Award – brings together strong physical expression and the live-music of the Israeli composer Shaul Bustan to a satirical and hilarious reflection on death, where costume, stage design and light become insignias for a birthday ceremony of a different kind.
An absurd, dark and touchingly magical comedy by a woman and a contrabass.
