Professor of Biomedical Photonic Imaging. In his research work laser pulsations are ‘shot’ through the skin and he listens to the sound produced by the local heating up of tissues. Using intelligent signal processing, this produces a picture of the underlying structures. The ultimate goal is to be able to detect tumours in a more safely, cheaper and more accurate way.
