Kaad Chiek is a documentary detailing the fringes of Muay Thai, the national sport of the Thai kingdom. The full length film follows the lives of a group of orphans brought up by a Thai Army lieutenant and fight promoter who feels that the pride, nobility and spirit of his culture is embodied in this martial art. In order to resist the dilution of Muay Thai by outside influences, this promoter espouses dangerous bare hand, or kaad chiek, bouts between timeless enemies; the Thai and Burmese. As his orphans grow as prize fighters, so too does he stage shows between older fighters lacking many options other than to continue on in a rough, dangerous tradition.
