As part of their sponsorship of The Great Southern Oceans exhibit at Taronga Zoo, Ausgrid wanted to promote their energy-efficiency message: that saving energy helps protect the oceans from the effects of climate change.
We wanted to create something children and their parents would engage with over and over again, reinforcing the environmental message. So we created PowerPup an iPad game people can enjoy at the zoo in the ‘shack’ and download at home.
PowerPup promotes simple energy saving tips through the character of ‘Miya’, one of Taronga Zoo’s famous sea lions. Guiding her through the Great Southern Ocean, players have to race against rising sea temperatures, dodging enemies to collect energy saving icons and help the planet.
PowerPup was launched at Taronga Zoo on the 1st October 2012 and visitors to the PowerPup exhibit (the shack) could play the game and experience it on the big screen. It was also promoted through Facebook (facebook.com/powerpupgame) and is available in iTunes:
