Took a 6 mile drive down to Ontario California for a test drive of one HPEVS cars they have onsite.
HPEVS are the makers one of the most popular AC motor systems used in DIY electric vehicles today. The AC-50 motor runs on 96V and is designed for small to medium sized cars under 3000 lbs. They also have the AC-51 which is designed to work on a 144V system.
The AC 75 motor is an 9" motor with higher performance that is capable of producing 67 peak horsepower and 180 ft-lbs. of peak torque at 96 volts. There will also be an AC-76 for use on 144V both due out this December.
The weight of the AC 50 motor is around 115 pounds.
The weight of the AC 75 motor is around 180 pounds.
