CATCHING THE SUNLIGHT
Light, shadow in the context of architecture
Photography without camera, but by means of natural conditions in an architec- tural context. This is what Eline Cautreels and Maarten De Beukelaer unite in 'Catching the sunlight'. By placing objects, people and other elements in front of photographic paper, the sun will literally burn the silhouettes and changing geometries of constant movement into the photographic paper. This creates a unique image. During the exhibition we show amongst other things one of these images in an oversized form.
This project will not only be a presentation of images produced by the sunlight, but also a remote registration of every movement with the digital camera. With, as additional result, an objective registration of a work in process.
They put aside established procedures and standard photography techniques. Every result in their research is unique and every work requires once more new research.
