Slow day in Chicago

Lakefront path / Chicago, IL

I went out for a rollerblade on the lakefront. When I got there I saw that the paths were absolutely packed. So I took off my skates and did some prospecting with the Panasonic GH1.
This is the footage that came out of it.
It was only my second day with the cam so please forgive the technical mishaps and focus pulls. This was also shot on a class 4 2gig SD card, not the recommended Class 6 or above for shooting HD video on, just to see how the cam would perform...and because that was all I had to use.
DMC-GH1/Kit lens
All handheld
"Creative Video" camera mode (manual video mode)
720p/60 AVCHD conformed to 24p
Shutter speed around 1000+ (most clips)
2gig class 4 SD card
FCP (edit + color)/Cinema Tools

I got to get one of these cameras .
I'm glad I have one on preorder.
I think the 24fps slomo is super. So smooth.
A good eye.
Looking forward to seeing more of your 1080/24 stuff too!
Regarding the shutter speed, did you try some shots with a lower shutter speed too ? Would be interesting to see, how it looks. 60fps is already something, but shooting with 1/1000 sec lets fast movements "twinkle" a little bit sometimes. It often looks best, shooting even or especially fast moving objects just with 1/fps ( 60fps=1/60sec ).
For example, if a car is passing the frame in 1/20 sec, you will only get 3 pictures, shooting with 60fps. 1/1000 sec will let them look crispy but also just popping up somewhere. A slower shutter speed might let this passing car looking more blurr, but in the end, the whole movement looks smoother.
Try to play with that. It's interesting. Looking forward to your next vid. This Panasonic GH1 seems to be really awesome. Truly the best deal at the moment.
