Fast and Very Loose. A Bathroom Memoir.
Ever wondered what would happen if you went without food for two weeks? Trust me, it's not pretty.
In January of 09, author and journalist Cash Peters subjected his body to the Master Cleanser, a ten-day fast, and then some, to cleanse his system. During that time he survived on just salt water, maple syrup, cayenne pepper, tea, and lemonade.
This little movie follows the experiment from start to finish.
The result is, to say the least...alarming.

You are a true genius of the dietary cinema.
LOVED IT!
You’re video was amusing, and I think well balanced.
A few things though.
1. Anybody wanting to try the Master Cleanse needs to buy the book. There is important information, and details needed in order to do it SAFELY. A note of warning though, the book is written from an extremist view point, the author actually sounds like a nut. Ignore that and focus on the diet itself and the tips and warnings.
2. In my first experience I suffered horrible caffeine withdrawal, which might be part of what you went through (headaches and nausea) and find that I need about 7-10 days to prepare for the cleanse by weaning myself off the caffeine first. It is much easier to get through caffeine withdrawal when you can comfort yourself with food, and much harder to give up the comfort of food when you’re hurting from the lack of caffeine!
3. The first time you do it, to truly appreciate what you are doing, and to better understand how you are damaging your health I recommend keeping a food journal for a week or two before the cleanse… Notice how much food you eat (or Starbucks you suck down) that doesn’t add any nutrition to your body. It would stun you.
4. It is easier to do with a friend-- MUCH easier.
5. Invest in a cool easy to tote water bottle. I notice in the video you made each glass as you went and drank it mostly at home. I found if I made the lemon and maple syrup mixture first and kept my bottle filled, I could just sip on it all day. Learning to recognize the difference between hunger pains and thirst is something anyone wanting to loose weight or get healthy needs to do. During the cleanse it becomes quite apparent that the need to stuff your face every time you feel a twinge is a purely mental thing. In addition, use the time spent on the cleanse to acclimate yourself to drinking more fluids, then when you are off it, continue your new habit with water! You might not be willing to follow the diet the book suggests after the cleanse, but drinking more water will help you eat less crap after words, and will in turn help you continue to keep your system more cleansed, and the weight loss going!
Also, I notice you chose not to show the “poo” pictures- good choice! Lol. If someone is interested, there are plenty already on the net… basically, the cleanse is kinda like taking a brillo pad to your plumbing and scrubbing out the buildup that just sits inside you rotting…
It isn’t something you need to do, or would want to do, very often, once a season at most. I find doing one at the end of the holiday season allows me to cleanse myself (litterrally!) of the previous year! It leaves me fresh and invigorated and ready to start my new year with a bang!
Thank you for taking the time to put that together!

If I were to be absolutely honest, I did wind down my usual quota of food and drink over a period of 21 days prior to doing the cleanse, which is advisable, but not stipulated in the book. It just makes it easier. The binge day was to show what I used to eat.
And I did carry a thermos around with me containing the drink whenever I was outside the home.
The nutty part of the book is the religious part, but it really has nothing to do with the cleanse itself.
I have two criticisms, 1. it was too short. I wanted more.
2. the binge eating the day before the cleanse is not advised for those who have never fasted before. You should really prepare your body for the cleanse a good two weeks before hand.
