The Indiana University School of Education and IUPUI co-hosted the Education Writers Association's annual higher education seminar, bringing reporters who cover higher education from across the country to Indianapolis on Nov. 2 and 3, 2012, to discuss a range of issues that are preeminent in media coverage. The focus of the seminar was on the issue of student debt, and this session featuring two IU School of Education faculty members hones in on the topic.
This session is titled "Dealing with Student Loan Debt: the Problems." The panel includes Vasti Torres, professor at Indiana University School of Education and director of IU Center for Postsecondary Research, and Vic Borden, professor at Indiana University School of Education as well as senior advisor to the IU Executive Vice President for University Regional Affairs, Planning, and Policy. Chris LoCascio, of the student-led group "Fix UC" was also on the panel. Stephen Burd, senior policy analyst for the New America Foundation, moderated the panel.
