Technologic Overkill is the first music video shot on an iPhone 3GS. The song by XFYA accompanies the plight of a little blue robot and his attempt to be relevant in an increasingly technological world.

Very well done! Seems like you cropped the video to change its aspect ratio. It looks great.
  • Steve Ellington plus 2 years ago
    Thanks. Yes it is cropped.

Make sure you add it to Philip Bloom's iPhone Video Competition! Let him know of that so he can add the video!

Does the Iphone video record have a 'pause' function? to allow you to record multiple shots without creating a new video clip each time?
  •
  • Steve Ellington plus 2 years ago
No it doesn't. Hopefully a third party developer can provide this function. It would be cool to make a completely in-camera linear edit movie.

    Nice work.

Sweet thanks. Yeah it's weird I found the 'pause' function on my generic 2yr old LG phone and i love it.. but having the iphone quality along with 'trim' functions.. would be AWESOME! thanks for the info!
  • Steve Ellington plus 2 years ago
My old nokia 3650 had that function back in 2003. It was fun to play around with old school in-camera tricks like making someone disappear. I can't wait to see what third parties do with video apps for the 3GS.

Nice work! How did you do the low shots? I presume you weren't scrabbling along on your knees or there would have been a lot more commuters stopping or running in the opposite direction ;)

Also looking forward to what the Apps store produces. I have heard Apple is going to change it so trims are not destructive but nothing about other edit functions.

You presume wrong sir :) I'm not sure why I didn't draw more attention. They probably just thought I was crazy!

I don't think you were the 1st...though I could be wrong. It would be interesting to know who was..

Check the publish dates (mine June 23, the other July 1). Boing Boing is wrong. It bums me out that the other one is getting the credit from such a big source :(

Very cool Video, Living in the Silicon Valley this really hit home. How did you get the great depth of field?
  • Steve Ellington plus 2 years ago
Thanks. I guess I will reveal my secret :) I have the clarifi case from griffin which makes the minimum focus distance go from 10cm to about 5cm. Cheers

  • Wow! Very cool video. I didn't realize the little robot was so tiny until you put up against the iPod Nano. Good work.

I too am a victim of technologic overkill. I got my iPhone G3s in April of this year and made my first iPhone movie last week (Lost Home of the Gabrielino).

In this gotta-get-a-G4 world (as referred to at about 1:34 into your movie) , I'm already using ancient G3 technology to begin life as an iPhone movie maker.

It seems that me and the little blue guy have something in common. :) Thanks for exposing our plight to the masses through your cool iPhone movie.
