While shooting for an upcoming documentary called VANISHING SAIL, I put a VIO POV camera on the masthead of a local sailboat competing in the 2012 Grenada Sailing Festival. It was a very windy series and a capsize was inevitable. The camera is waterproof but when the boat capsized and was towed back to the beach at Grand Anse (on the island of Grenada) the mast head, pointing straight down, was dragged across the bottom with the camera attached! Yikes! No camera stays waterproof or in one piece in those conditions and it took on water and died. I retrieved the camera and removed the card which was then sent to Lexar for data retrieval. The card had been in the water for about 2 hours and so needed some special equipment to do this. So thanks to Lexar who retrieved the data I was able to put together this little video of the capsize (I kept the sound for the first 2 clips and there after there was too much wind noise so I deleted the sound so feel free to sing or whistle along). Also a big thanks to the local kids who raced the boat and put on a great show for my camera! They had a blast and loved the fact that we captured it all on video. This is Hollywood mon, we goin to be famos!
