Marijilda Canyon is one of the largest streams to descend from the 10,000 foot heights of Mount Graham in Southern Arizona. It is easy to reach from Safford, Arizona on a rough dirt road that is passable by a carefully driven minivan. The canyon shelters a year round stream that holds native trout and is a popular destination for locals seeking to beat the heat.
The Gibson Trail climbs the south slope of the canyon giving incredible views of craggy peaks, deep crevasses, and rolling grassland. The trail begins at the end of the road, just above the popular stream side picnic area.
