OCTOBER 24, 2012
Artist Nick Cave’s highly imaginative work bridges sculpture, fashion, dance, and performance art. He compiles found materials—hooked rugs, figurines, toys, twigs, and every variety of button, sequin and bead—into fantastical “Soundsuits” inspired by a variety of global costume traditions. The vaguely humanoid figures are ambiguous, striking notes that range from buoyant whimsy to eerie menace. In conjunction with his exhibition "Nick Cave: Hiding in Plain Sight" on view at the AMOA-Arthouse Jones Center through December 30, Nick Cave will discuss his artistic practice and process with Dr. Moyo Okediji, Director of the Center for Art of Africa and its Diaspora, University of Texas at Austin.

Presented in partnership with AMOA-Arthouse, The University of Texas Department of Art and Art History, College of Fine Arts, the Center for Art of Africa and its Diaspora, and the Visual Arts Center.
