This is my first documentary from 2001, which I co-directed with my friend Ryan Fenson-Hood.
Two young men, an american and an european meet in film school and become friends. They see that Europe and the rest of the world is heavily influenced by the US. They see that the influence doesn't come from the real america, but from a contorted one which is displayed through the media. In attempt to offset this, they set off on a road trip through the American west to take an honest look at America and show this through a documentary film. The movie is very straight forward. The filmmakers tell the story of their trip and everywhere they stop, they interview americans of all different backgrounds. They ask one very simple question, "What do you think of America?". Unexpectedly the last day of their trip turned out to be September 11th 2001.
